Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan - Civil War
1865 Steel Engraving

George Brinton McClennan (1826-1885) was appointed general in chief, but was criticized for overcaution in the unsuccessful Peninsular Campaign and removed from the campaign. He was defeated in his run against Lincoln in the 1864 presidential campaign. This engraving was published in 1865 as part of Civil War in America by John S. C. Abbott, and is in excellent condition with no discoloration. It is printed on heavy paper, which is blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being 9-1/4 inches by 6-1/4 inches; the image area is 4-1/2 inches by 4-1/2 inches. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
