Battle of Wilson's Creek -- Fall of Genl. Lyon
1865 Steel Engraving
Hand-to-hand combat is depticted just ahead of General Lyon, who, on his white horse, has just been struck in the heart. This print, was published in 1865 as part of Civil War in America by John S. C. Abbott. It is in excellent condition with no discoloration. There is a tiny frayed strip and bit of glue on the upper margin where the tissue guard was once attached; the image area is perfect. This steel engraving was printed on medium-weight paper, which is blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being 9-1/4 inches by 6-1/4 inches; the image area is 7-1/2 inches by 4-1/2 inches. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
