Bear Taking Meat From Under the Head of the Hunter
1871 Wood Engraving
A bear pulls what might be a deer carcass from beneath the head of a sleeping man. Three companions lie nearby, all with their rifles at the ready. The campfire blazes. And this scene, as anyone knows who has camped out in the mountains of the American West, is still played out nightly, although today the bear may be after the granola and Kit-Kat bars. This print is from Beyond The West , published in 1871. It is in excellent condition with no discoloration or other damage, and is on medium-weight paper, blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being 7-3/4 inches by 5-1/4 inches; the image area is about 6 inches by 3-1/2 inches. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
