Burns's Cottage
19th Century Steel Engraving

Burns's street is a quiet one, but full of activity and detail. Here are ducks and chickens, a spinning wheel, a couple of peasants examining a cartloat of hay, dogs, a man with a scythe, and, oddly, a sickle floating over his door. Pigeons strut in the thatched roof. So much here from which the great Scottish poet got inspiration! The print is in excellent condition with no discoloration or other damage. It is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The plate impression is clearly visible. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being about 10 inches by 6-1/2 inches; the image area is 5 inches by 3-1/2 inches. There are four pinholes near the edge, well away from the image area, where it was stitched into the original volume. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
