David Rizzio and Mary Stuart
c. 1880 Gebbie & Co. Photogravure
David Rizzio (1533?-1566) was a favorite of Mary Queen of Scots -- that is until Mary's husband found out. Rizzio was murdered in Mary's presence in Holyrood Palace in 1566. The print, which is from an original by Amos Cassioli, is deep brown, and is in excellent condition with no discoloration or other damage. It is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The plate impression is faintly visible. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being about 17 inches by 11-1/2 inches; the image area is 8-3/4 inches by 6-1/2 inches. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
