The Roman emperor Lucius Aelius AureliusCommodus (161-192 A.D.) marches in front of the surviving gladiators after they have enjoyed their blood sport. The crowd in the stands is going wild; they apparently enjoyed the blood too. The print, which is inked in an attractive sepia, is in excellent condition with no discoloration or other damage. It is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being about 17 inches by 11-1/2 inches; the image area is 11-1/2 inches by 7-1/4 inches.
