Taking Toll at the Bridge
c. 1870s Steel Engraving

A man smooches a young woman on a bridge while a small group stands at the rear with a look that says, "aw, gimme a break." A windmill is visible in the background. The print is in good condition and is masterfully printed; even the finest engraved lines are still jet-black and diamond-sharp after over a century. There are some faint gray spots overall, which are especially visible on the border. The blemishes are too faint to be reproduced on this scan. It is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being 14-1/2 inches by 11 inches; the image area is 9 inches by 7 inches. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
