The Waste of Cumberland
Dated 1842 Fisher, Son, & Co. Steel Engraving
A crescent Moon shines down on this wierd and dramatic scene: two men flee on a frightened horse, their dog runs alongside, and three men on foot seem to be chasing them away. The scene, drawn by H. Melville and engraved by R. Staines, is of the stark countryside in Cumberland, in NW England. The print is in excellent condition with no discoloration or other damage. It is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The plate impression is clearly visible. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being about 10 inches by 6-1/2 inches; the image area is 5-1/2 inches by 3-1/4 inches. There are four pinholes near the edge, well away from the image area, where it was stitched into the original volume. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
